“The Krone” stands for uncomplicated enjoyment — honest, down-to-earth, and strongly focused on regional ingredients. As the only traditional beer tavern in the entire Gastein Valley, we serve freshly tapped Augustiner beer from Munich. You can take your pick: explore our varied menu with refined dishes or enjoy classic, great-value beer-hall specialties.

The original.
Munich brewing craftsmanship visiting Bad Gastein — true tradition in liquid form. Augustiner-Bräu is the oldest brewery still operating in Munich. It was first officially documented in 1328, when the Augustinian monks brewed their own beer at the monastery. It was not only for their own consumption but was also allowed to be served tax-free in the monastery tavern.
In 1829, master brewer Anton Wagner from Freising took over the brewery and continued to run it as a privately owned, independent business. To this day, Augustiner beer is brewed in the listed historic brick building in Munich — constructed in 1885 and the oldest large-scale brewery in the city.

“grill & wine” is our specialty restaurant located on the lower level of the hotel. Its atmosphere is inspired by a modern alpine lodge made of reclaimed wood — warm, cozy, and truly unique. In this special setting, enjoy our delicious fondues or the popular hot-stone dining experience together with family or friends, and look forward to an evening full of flavor and conviviality.

Tatar hat
As a starter, we serve crisp salads with balsamic vinegar and Styrian pumpkin seed oil, accompanied by freshly baked garlic bread. Then a cast-iron Tatar hat grill is heated at the center of the table. In its surrounding channel, a rich beef broth with aromatic vegetables gently simmers.
Each guest then places marinated beef and pork on the hot grill — briefly for medium, a little longer for well done. We serve it with homemade sauces and oven-baked potatoes from certified cultivation. In between, you can enjoy the broth, which becomes more intense and flavorful as the grilling continues.
This turns an evening with us into a special and sociable dining experience.

Spare ribs
Starter: crisp salads with balsamic vinegar and pumpkin seed oil, served with savory garlic bread. Then come our popular ribs (spare ribs): seasoned and oven-roasted using our own special method — exceptionally tender and unique in Gastein. Served with oven-baked potatoes and a chive sour cream sauce.

Grill plate & Fondue
Whether as a couple or in a larger group — an evening of fondue with us becomes a true culinary experience. Look forward to selected meat variations or fine fish and seafood assortments, fresh vegetables, crusty bread, and homemade sauces.
Choose between a flavorful broth or classic oil — or enjoy both: thanks to our special tabletop equipment, fondue and grill plate can be used at the same time.
